Position

DEPUTY HEAD OF CREDIT – BACK OFFICE OPERATIONS

Job Description/Responsibilities:

Reports to: Head of Credit

Purpose: To provide overall management and supervision of the credit administration and loans collections to ensure portfolio quality management and operational efficiency. Streamline loans and lending procedures and processes in line with regulatory requirements.  Ensure bad debt losses are minimized within existing credit policy. Monitor portfolio performance, prepare credit analysis reports to drive business decisions. 

 

 

MAIN JOB RESPONSIBILITIES.

  • Ensuring portfolio quality by putting in place clear credit processes and procedures
  • Continuous review of credit policies and procedures in line with regulations and changing market and client needs in order to remain relevant.
  • Act as a bank representative in signing deeds and bank guarantee
  • Monitor all irregularities , past dues, documentation deficiencies and ensure appropriate actions to resolve them in place
  • Develop, enhance and ensure accurate and timely credit reports, data analysis & monitoring framework which meets the requirements of various external & internal stakeholders.
  • Oversee credit administration and loan collection unit under credit department to ensure the bank smoothly reach to its strategic and business goals.
  • Participating in development of  new lending products
  • Ensure approved credit changes and parameters agreed on by management are catered for in the Bank systems and all stakeholders are aware of the changes.

  • Ensure critical risk monitoring for compliance with all statutory requirements and monitor the entire business portfolio, highlighting specific actions points on early warning signs for accounts in excess over approval limits and loans in arrears.
  • Review and propose risk grades and ensure the pricing mirrors the inherent changes in risk in all proposals
  • Monitoring of the performance of disbursed credit facilities and settlement of disbursed credit facilities as and when they are due and or upon customers’ requests.
  • Attend to Internal and external Auditors and ensure closure of Audit findings.
  • Draft letters for buy outs, caveating and transfers of the title deeds and make follow up on the pending cases.
  • Comply with key government risk management procedures, control policies and measures, such as prevention of fraud and adherence to antimony laundering control measures
  • Engage & carryout shared activities with other relevant departments within the bank to ensure smooth & faster interdepartmental coordination & execution
  • To motivate ,coach develop staff and manage performance of staff in the credit back office unit
  • Ensure the safety of team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation to achieve the programme’s goals on safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.

Requirements

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Accounts, Finance, Statistics or Business Administration.
  • Master’s Degree is added advantage

Experience Requirement:

  • At least 08 years’ experience in regulated microfinance/Banking sector holding various senior positions.
  • At least 02 years’ experience of credit management particularly credit administration.

Additional Requirements:

  • Knowledgeable of banking processes and procedures
  • Strong managerial and interpersonal skills coupled with analytical and soft skills.
  • Good presentation skills
