Job Description/Responsibilities:

We operate in 11 countries across Asia and Africa. In 2002, BRAC pioneered the Graduation approach in Bangladesh to tackle ultra poverty. Over the next 16 years, BRAC’s flagship Graduation programme, known as Targeting the Ultra Poor (TUP), has lifted more than 1.8 million households out of the direct forms of poverty and depravation. In this time, BRAC has continued to adapt the Graduation approach to meet the changing needs of people living in ultra poverty in Bangladesh and around the world. In addition to TUP in Bangladesh, BRAC has directly implemented Graduation programmes in Afghanistan, Pakistan, South Sudan and Uganda. BRAC has also provided technical assistance to many others, from governments to NGOs, to adapt the approach in very diverse settings in countries like India, Haiti, Yemen, Kenya, Lesotho and the Philippines. Today, through the efforts of BRAC and many others who have since joined the Graduation community of practice, this evidence-backed approach is being applied in more than 60 countries. BRAC is looking for a Director to lead its Ultra Poor Graduation programmes globally. In this senior leadership role, the person will be responsible for raising resources to continue the implementation of TUP at scale in Bangladesh and growing BRAC’s direct implementation of Graduation programmes around the world. The Director will also be primarily responsible for ensuring that the programmes remain both contextual and cutting edge and are delivered at high quality wherever they are implemented.
Provide strategic leadership to BRAC’s Ultra Poor Graduation programmes in Bangladesh and globally, consisting of more than 2,000 staff and an annual budget of over $50m.
Raise significant resources from existing and new donors to continue programming at scale in Bangladesh and beyond.
Set objectives and ensure performance against those objectives of a strong senior team.
Strengthen monitoring and evaluation so that programme quality is ensured.
Continue a culture of continuous learning and sharing within BRAC and with the wider Graduation community of practice.
Support local, national and global advocacy of the Graduation approach to tackling ultra poverty.
Develop a strong cadre of leaders within the Graduation space at BRAC.

Experience Requirements:
A minimum of 10 years of development experience with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role managing large and complex programmes. A person with experience of working internationally will be favoured.

A proven strategic leader in the development field with demonstrated ability to lead large and complex programmes.
A strong track record of successful fundraising from a diverse set of donors, from bilateral and multilateral to foundations and corporates.
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
A track record of developing leaders.
