Position

Specialist, WASH, Urban Development Programme (UDP) (Contractual)


Job Description/Responsibilities:

  • Review overall drawings & specifications in preparation of subcontractor scope. Identify and support implementation of demand based (Urban) WASH/ infrastructure technologies and interventions.
  • Development of appropriate and viable technological options, innovative ideas on water supply and sanitation interventions for different hydro-geological context.
  • Take part in needs assessments, and produce detailed technical reports related to WASH construction activities.
  • Perform overall quality control of the infrastructure development related work (budget, estimate, schedule, plan, worker’s performance) and report regularly on project status. Review engineering deliverables and initiate appropriate corrective actions.
  • Enhance skills of staffs in the installation of Deep Tube-Well for piped water supply, hand washing stations, community toilets, waste bins construction, etc.
  • Collect reports and documents as well as share all data related to the progress in the project implementation.
  • Ensure quality of works by preparing technical guidelines, monitoring and follow-up, visiting sites, etc. while implementing projects.
  • Provide technical input to develop project proposal & budget for future grants initiatives.
  • Liaison with different government and non-government organisations and agencies.
  • Ensure the safety of team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation to achieve the programme’s goals on safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
  • Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.
  • Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place, encourage others to do so.

Requirements

Educational Requirements:

B.Sc. in Civil Engineering from any recognised university with minimum second class/ division or equivalent GPA/ CGPA in all academic examinations.

Experience Requirement:

6 years demonstrated working experience in engineering field, preferably in WASH/ infrastructure services sector.


Additional Requirements:

  • Able to design, draw and estimate Water and Sanitation infrastructures independently.
  • Knowledge about WASH related technologies and on operations management in urban areas.
  • Technical knowledge on water and sanitation options for urban low income groups.
