Position

Sector Specialist, Entomologist, Urban Development Programme (Contractual)


Job Description/Responsibilities:

  • Prepare plan for vector control activities and ensure the timely implementation
  • Conduct training for vector control staff in- Field entomological work including mosquito control, identification and collection; Training of temporary workers for spraying; Entomological surveillance
  • Coordinate with Municipality and  City corporation at central and field level for vector control issue and different awareness campaign
  • Ensure the control of vectors in the context of National vector management
  • Ensure timely reporting as per programme requirements
  • Ensure timely procurement of all related logistics, provide all the logistics and administrative supports to the subordinate staff and participate in field entomological activities
  • Ensure the safety of team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation to achieve the programme’s goals on safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment
  • Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action
  • Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place, encourage others to do so

Requirements

Educational Requirements:

Masters in Entomology/ Zoology with specialisation on medical entomology from any recognised university with all second class/ division or equivalent GPA/ CGPA in all academic examinations

Experience Requirement:

At least 4 year experience preferable in relevant field (public health/ medical entomology etc.)


Additional Requirements:

  • Have Knowledge on Contemporary development issues especially in the context of Bangladesh; Urbanization and urban development; Gender and women empowerment; Community development; Training and facilitation methods, tools and techniques; Concepts of social accountability
  • Have skills on Communications; Training and facilitation; Use of different training methods and tools; Time management; Public speaking; Report writing; Decision making and problem solving; People management; IT-Skills; Excellent presentation skills
  • Must have creativity, result oriented, integrity, flexibility, decisiveness, adaptability, teamwork and self-motivated
