Head of Flood Recovery Project (Contractual); BRAC Humanitarian Programme

Job Description/Responsibilities:

  • Overall planning, management, monitoring of project execution and ensure the accomplished the activities as per plan and stipulated time
  • Supervision of staff and the implementation of project interventions
  • Update and suggest BRAC Humanitarian Programme’s senior management on the direction, strategies and technical issues of the project
  • Manage the project resources (budget and human resources) properly for maximum cost-effectiveness and efficiency
  • Monitor progress and identify risks for timely action and early resolution
  • Provide technical guidance in the implementation of project activities and adapt accordingly
  • Provide guidance to the team members on programme quality standards, management quality procedures and DRR best practices
  • Supervise staff to ensure the timely, efficient, and impactful implementation of the project
  • Prepare project reports (progress, financial, etc.) for management information, oversight and action in a timely manner
  • Collaborate with both internal and external partners and stakeholders to ensure the desired outcomes
  • Ensure compliance for all actions and activities with organisational rules, regulations, policies, strategies and internal control mechanisms and the achievement of results according to the principles of results based management
  • Ensure the safety of team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation to achieve the programme’s goals on safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment
  • Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action
  • Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place, encourage others to do so



Educational Requirements:

Master’s in Disaster Management/ Development Studies/ Social Science or similar discipline from recognised University/ Institution with all second class/ division or equivalent GPA/ CGPA in all academic examinations


Experience Requirement:

Minimum 10 years working experiences in humanitarian response, disaster management and/ or development sector with govt. agencies and/ or I/NGOs including 3 years experiences in managing emergency programmes or humanitarian crises

Additional Requirements:

  • Conversant with the national and international humanitarian architecture, particularly coordination (including cluster approach), networking, strategic collaboration/partnership and funding
  • Sound knowledge of global, regional and national disaster management framework of Bangladesh and all other humanitarian framework and standards
  • Proven experience in preparing budgets, procurement of materials and monitoring of activities
  • Excellent skills in report writing (e.i. financial report, progress report etc.)
  • Capable for planning and prioritizing under any stress situation
  • Excellent skills in team building, problem solving and decision making
  • Demonstrated coordination skill and ability to implement programme in a challenging work environment
  • Excellent communication, coordination and networking skill
  • Familiar with MS Office, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint
