This position is responsible for overall management and implementation of the project activities at the Upazila level. He/she will be accountable for the successful delivery of the goal and outcomes, regularly monitor and report the progress in achieving them, ensure coordination with key stakeholders such as local government institutions, PIOs, other humanitarian actors, local leaders, CBOs, etc. He/she will also be responsible for ensuring that the activity follows project log frame, implementation plan and budget.



Project Manager, Flood Recovery Project (Contractual); BRAC Humanitarian Programme

Job Description/Responsibilities:

  • Plan, manage, monitor and oversee the different steps and stages of project execution and ensure the accomplished the activities as per design.
  • Develop scheme wise detailed budget and implementation plan.
  • Manage the project resources (budget and human resources) properly for maximum cost-effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Travel frequently to the field (at least 50%), monitor progress and identify risks for timely action and early resolution.
  • Provide technical guidance in the implementation of project activities and adapt accordingly.
  • Update and suggest BRAC Humanitarian Programme’s senior management on the direction, strategies and technical issues of the project.
  • Provide guidance to the team members on program quality standards, management quality procedures and DRR best practices.
  • Determine staff technical capacity building needs and make arrangements for necessary training, feedback, guidance and support to ensure optimum performance.
  • Supervise staff to ensure the timely, efficient, and impactful implementation of the project.
  • Prepare project reports (progress, financial, etc.) for management information, oversight and action in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that environmental, resilience and sustainability issues are considered in the project activity implementation.
  • Collaborate with both internal and external partners and stakeholders to ensure the desired outcomes.
  • Ensure compliance for all actions and activities with organisational rules, regulations, policies, strategies and internal control mechanisms and the achievement of results according to the principles of results based management.
  • Ensure the safety of team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation to achieve the programme’s goals on safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
  • Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.
  • Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place, encourage others to do so.



Educational Requirements:

Master’s in any discipline preferably in Disaster Management/ Development Studies/ Social Science or similar discipline from recognised university/ institution with all second class/ division or equivalent GPA/ CGPA in all academic examinations


Experience Requirement:

Minimum 5 years of working experience in humanitarian response, disaster management and/ or development sector with Government agencies and/ or I/NGOs is required

Additional Requirements:

  • Conversant with the national and international humanitarian architecture, particularly coordination (including cluster approach), networking, strategic collaboration/partnership and funding
  • Sound knowledge of global, regional and national disaster management framework of Bangladesh and all other humanitarian framework and standards
  • Excellent skills in report writing (e.i. financial report, progress report etc.)
  • Capable for planning and prioritizing under any stress situation
  • Excellent skills in team building, problem solving and decision making
  • Demonstrated coordination skill and able to implement programme in a challenging work environment
  • Excellent communication, coordination and networking skill
  • Familiar with MS Office, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint
