Senior Regional Coordinator, Urban Development Programme

Job Description/Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all programmatic targets like; community mobilisation, CAP implementation, WASH integration, service integration, right and entitlement, advocacy and knowledge management, research issue according to annual plan maintaining high quality of results
  • Identify local level funding and potential social business for the Urban Development Programme (UDP) for financial sustainability. Identify impact and best practices of UDP and scale up the potential interventions 
  • Liaise with the relevant government line agencies, private sector, training institutions, financial institutions and local commercial and industrial organizations to pro-actively promote economic opportunities for members of the urban poor communities through linkage/partnerships
  • Collaboration with city/ municipality authority, UDD, Rajuk, KDA, CDA, RDA for programme implementation.
  • Coordinate and liaison with national and international organizations working on development of safe, resilient city; affordable housing and land tenure security, livelihood and income generation, access to finance, access to market, disaster and climate change issues
  • Identify partnership opportunities and develop strong partnerships with NGO-GO and private sector service providers, other BRAC programmes and national/multinational corporations. Develop and manage a referral system with service providers. Coordinate and follow up with partner organizations to ensure coordinated and quality service delivery
  • Network and liaison with Mayor, Councilor’s, city/ municipality authority for ensuring coordinated service delivery.
  • Organise and manage regular team meetings with field staffs, informal catch up meetings and external meetings as necessary and to ensure meeting notes and action points are distributed to deadline.
  • Guide and supervise Field Coordinators to ensure all regional level targets are met according to annual plan. Monitor progress of the project and ensure smooth field delivery of the activities.
  • Identify, plan and organize capacity development trainings/workshops of the field staffs (urban development).
  • Ensure the safety of team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation to achieve the programme’s goals on safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
  • Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.
  • Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place, encourage others to do so.



Educational Requirements:

Masters in any discipline from any recognised university/ institution.


Experience Requirement:

Minimum 5 years’ experience with NGOs or international development organisation, including 3 years’ experience in the urban poverty reduction/ livelihoods/ planning and governance project or programme.

Additional Requirements:

  • Demonstrated ability to successfully manage large scale and complex projects
  • Have knowledge on current national and global development trends related to urban poverty and urban development
  • Competence in analysing the social and gender dynamics within urban set up
  • Have skills on community organising and social mobilisation.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, organisation and negotiation skills
  • Skills in documentation, facilitation & reporting
  • Strong analytical skills and possess a proven track record of working successfully in a variety of cultural contexts
  • Awareness of political processes and protocols
