Purpose: This position will lead all kinds’ of financial management operation of ongoing FCDO funded flood recovery and cyclone preparedness phases (1, 2 and 3),  along with maintaining proper records of day-to-day accounting, invoicing, payroll, cash management, internal (monthly) financial reporting, ensures accurate and timely reporting as per donor deadlines, comply with financial processes and controls and proactively raise management attention to act and resolve financial/accounting operations activities. This position will work closely with Programme Head, BRAC Humanitarian Programme and support cyclone prepared project team on need basis.

Senior Manager, Finance (Contractual); BRAC Humanitarian Programme


Job Description/Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for day-to-day accounting functions
  • Review financial documents for accuracy
  • Maintain records and prepare transfer requests
  • Monitor project expenses, and ensure that that financial and administrative functions of the field offices are carried out within the framework of BRAC and FCDO policies and procedures
  • Analyze accounting and financial data, preparing financial narrative reports, and workload flow charts, etc.
  • Ensure the safety of team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation to achieve the Programme’s goals on safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment
  • Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action
  • Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place, encourage others to do so

Requirements

Educational Requirements:

Master’s in finance/ accounting or any other relevant discipline from any recognised university/ institutions.

Experience Requirement:

Minimum 05 years of experience in the relevant field is required. Candidates having experience to work in emergency reponse programme will get preference.

 


Additional Requirements:

  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of professional accounting principles, theories, practices, and terminology (private sector, governmental, and nonprofit) and an ability to understand accounting practices and procedures
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing with accounting and non-accounting individuals
  • Proficiency in Microsoft programs i.e. Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc., and the ability to use various commercially available accounting software programs.
  • Ability to work in a team and to sometimes tight deadlines in a dynamic and fast-paced work environment
  • Ability to contribute effectively as part of a team, flexibility and multi-tasking
