Position

Specialist, Knowledge Management and Documentation (Contractual); BRAC Humanitarian Programme


Job Description/Responsibilities:

  • Develop knowledge management plan and communication strategy
  • Design and develop appropriate methodology, tools and techniques for capturing the interventions, achievements, evidence and learning
  • Produce knowledge and communication products including updates, factsheets, situation reports, presentation materials, briefing notes, press releases, social media contents etc.
  • Prepare evidence-based case stories, best practices based on the lessons learned from various interventions for dissemination 
  • Ensure the promotion of new knowledge and learning using different communication channels, social media in coordination with the communication department
  • Produce materials supporting evidence-based decision-making including data analysis, compilation and visualization products for dissemination and learning events
  • Develop communications materials (booklets, flyer, etc.) on different aspects for including COVID-19 awareness message   
  • Assist in compiling, editing and publishing ‘rubbles to life’ series, books/ working paper, articles, blogs, abridged version of the research report, etc.
  • Assist in writing concepts and script to develop a video documentary on BRAC’s Rana Plaza response strategy and interventions, which will be used in future as key document and highlight the work of BRAC since the occurrence of Rana Plaza disaster
  • Work closely with selected firm/ individuals to produce high-quality short video documentary/ books/ printing materials
  • Provide relevant inputs, information and necessary documents to keep the website and portal up-to-date in coordination and collaboration with communications focal
  • Coordinate communication activities and events, support documentation and prepare proceedings, minutes, etc.
  • Maintain documentation management system and ensure programme’s publications are collected, registered, and shared through online and social media networks
  • Develop, design and publish booklets, working papers, blogs and visual documentation for dissemination and visualization  
  • Collect qualitative information/data through participatory methods, MIS data from field offices, and coordinate all database issues for reporting
  • Prepare write-ups, narrative reports, periodic reports for management information
  • Prepare reports for donor and NGO Affairs Bureau in the prescribed report template/format, and for other stakeholders as necessary
  • Observe project implementation and interact closely with project participants and relevant stakeholders to develop impact stories through field visits
  •  Act as a focal point for information dissemination and organising lesson learning events
  • Coordinate with Communications teams within the organisation, project field operations team to ensure collection of data/information in alignment with donor and organizational policies and requirements
  • Ensure the safety of team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation to achieve the programme’s goals on safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
  • Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action
  • Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place, encourage others to do so

Requirements

Educational Requirements:

Bachelors in Communications/ Journalism/ English/ Disaster Management/ Business Studies/ Development Studies/ Social Science or any other relevant discipline from recognised university

Experience Requirement:

Minimum 05 years of professional experience in knowledge management, donor reporting and communication activities, preferably in humanitarian and/or development programmes


Additional Requirements:

  • Basic concepts on programme communications and documentation
  • Understanding on economic resilience, disability inclusion approaches
  • Hands-on experience on visual documentation, data analysis and database development
  • Familiar with process evaluation as well as process documentation
  • Ability to writing analytical reports, articles, blogs, situation reports in English and Bengali
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft packages, graphic design, website and social media technologies and applications
  • Innovation and creativity to disseminate learnings and best practices
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, and presentation skills in English
